This is a not-for-profit event to assist our Johnson County neighbors in need of food. In 2008, the 87th Street food pantry was serving approximately 170 families a month. In September of 2009, just one year later, that number jumped to 453! Our neighbors are hungry. Let's help feed them!

This exclusive not-for-profit event, "Conquer Emotional Eating" features expert speaker, noted author Linda Spangle, RN, and Molly Witker, MS (Licensed Marriage Family Therapist & Weight Watchers Leader).  
 
This event promotes hunger assistance for the 87th Street Catholic Charities Food Pantry in Overland Park.
 
Tickets are free in exchange for 5 to 10 non-perishable canned or boxed items or $20.00 (Check made payable to Catholic Charities)  Doing good for the neighborhood!

Molly Witker, MS LMFT is in private practice in Leawood, KS.  leading groups for people struggling with emotional eating.  As a Weight Watchers leader for the past nine years, Molly recognizes the struggle of taking weight off and KEEPING it off for good.

On Nov. 7, Molly will present:
• Why most dieters don’t keep the weight off
• How you make changes to keep weight off for good.
• It's not about the food

Lee Weigel of Lenexa, Ks. helps run The Pantry. He says, "“This is much more personal,” Weigel said. “I have to look people in the eye and say ‘I’ve got nothing to give you.’ I don’t want to do that. But, if it was easy it wouldn’t be as rewarding.”

What is a non-perishable food item?
 
Fruits and Vegetables Group
Canned or dry fruits and vegetables in an array of colors will help ensure consumption of many vitamins and minerals.

Canned vegetables
Vegetable juice
Canned tomatoes (juice and sauce)
Canned fruit and fruit cups (in its own juice)
Fruit juice
Dried fruit
 
Grain Group
Whole grains provide maximum nutrition value and long-lasting energy.
Oatmeal
Whole grain crackers
Low sugar/high fiber cereals
All pasta types
Whole grain rice
Protein Group
Lean meats and canned or dry beans provide the necessary fuel for muscles.
